How we make money

Tools Stack AI is reader-supported. The site is funded entirely by affiliate commissions and (eventually) display ads and a paid newsletter — never by sponsorship in exchange for favorable coverage.

What “affiliate link” means

Some of the outbound links to AI tools on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and then purchase a paid plan from that tool, the tool company pays us a commission. You pay the same price — there is no markup or extra cost to you for using our links.

Affiliate links typically have rel="sponsored" set on them so search engines and screen readers can identify them, in line with FTC guidance.

Which tools have affiliate links

Roughly one in three tools featured on this site have an affiliate program we participate in. You can identify these by clicking our tools directory — each tool card includes a “Try” button, which is the affiliate link when an affiliate program exists.

For tools without an affiliate program (including most major AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini), we still link to the official product page using a standard non-affiliate link.

Does this influence our reviews?

No. Our editorial process is independent. We score tools on real-world testing and reader-relevant criteria. A tool with a generous affiliate commission and one without get the same review treatment.

You will frequently see us recommend tools that pay us nothing (because they’re the right tool for the job), and you will see us write critical things about tools that do pay us a commission (because honest reviews build long-term reader trust).

Display advertising

We do not currently run display ads. If we ever do, we will use a reputable ad network (likely Mediavine) and ads will be clearly distinguishable from editorial content.

Sponsored content

We currently do not accept sponsored content. If that changes, sponsored posts will be clearly labeled as such, in compliance with FTC 16 CFR Part 255.

Your data

We track anonymized signals (which posts get read, which affiliate links get clicked, which tools get voted on) so we can write better content for you. We do not sell your data. Our newsletter is opt-in and you can unsubscribe at any time.
